The Role

This is an opportunity for a talented individual to play an integral role in the delivery of flood protection measures across the Falkirk area.

The postholder will provide a comprehensive, high-quality service for the management & maintenance of watercourses and associated infrastructure assets helping to manage flood risk and reduce the impacts of flooding on our communities and environment. The role also includes liaising with internal & external stakeholders & clients throughout projects.

You will hold an HNC in Civil Engineering (or equivalent discipline), will be a member of a relevant institution (IEng or above) and you will have knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation, as well as being able to lead on the design, procurement and implementation of flood protection studies, surface water management plans and delivery of projects associated with the Local Flood Risk Management Plan. You will carry out works to the Capital & Revenue budgets and be a key consultee in the planning process for flooding & drainage related analysis.

You will be enthusiastic, ambitious and a keen mentor with experience, good organisational and presentation skills, alongside experience of current health & safety regulations. You will be IT literate, have good interpersonal and report writing skills, with an overall professionalism.

You are required to be flexible, innovative and reactive to public demands and pressures including communicating directly with member & public enquiries. You will deputise for the Roads, Bridges & Flooding Co-ordinator as required.
